Popcorn Flower Granny Square

Sharing is caring!

This pretty Popcorn Flower Granny Square can be used for any number of projects. I was inspired by someone in a Facebook group who posted a picture of a granny square like this, wanting to know the pattern. I didn’t know where the pattern came from, but I could see how it was made. So I created my own pattern!

The image below shows the granny square my FB friend was inquiring about. She found it in a thrift store bin and thought it was quite pretty. I love these FB groups because people share ideas, ask questions, and provide a lot of support for one another.

Unknown Granny Square Pattern

You may notice that in my version of the design, I only went to round four. After that round, the pattern repeats itself in the same way. In the photo above, rounds five and six are done in white. You could carry on with this pattern using any combination of colors you like!

I also created this granny square using a ‘tight’ style of crocheting. It looks as though the sample photo may have a ‘chain one stitch’ between each cluster of ‘three double crochets’ in rounds three to six. I didn’t add the ‘chain one’ in between, because I crochet quite loose, and in my prototype, the granny square was too loosie-goosie.

I explain this more and show my prototype in the video tutorial. I also give the option of adding that ‘chain one’ stitch. If you are new to crochet, then you can check out my Beginner Crochet Series here.

However, due to health issues, I simply don’t have the energy to do both. So here I offer you the video tutorial only, and I do hope you find it informative and inspirational.
