10 Fabulous Granny Square Pattern Tutorials!

Sharing is caring!

Some of you may know that I am taking a break from creating content over the summer, but I thought I would share a blog post with 10 Fabulous Granny Square Pattern Tutorials from my Youtube Channel! These are all video tutorials, so they are super easy to follow.

I am also adding written patterns for most of these granny square motifs to my Ravelry Store. You can download a PDF pattern for the selected designs for a small fee. The written patterns do not contain any ads (which is how I make a small revenue on my blog and YouTube channel). Either way, I am grateful for your support!

10 fabulous granny square pattern tutorials

1. Traditional Granny Square Pattern

The first of the 10 Fabulous Granny Square Patterns is the traditional granny square. I use this pattern in several crochet projects including the Granny Square Tote Bag and the Happyghan Blanket.

2. Compact Granny Square

The compact granny square is great to use if you want a more ‘closed’ project, so to speak. It would be great for a warmer afghan, a purse, or a tote bag.

3. Solution for Wonky Granny Squares

This tutorial on how to deal with the issue of granny squares that go all wonky and twisted is great and will save you a lot of grief! Granny square blankets often have this issue and I explain why this is and offer a solution to the problem.

The following five granny square patterns all have a ‘Rose’ theme. I was planning to create a granny square blanket using all these different motifs. Unfortunately, I’ve injured my hand and can’t create large projects at this time. But, you are free to use these motifs to create your own design!

All these patterns are available as a downloadable PDF file for a small fee in my Ravelry Store. You can buy each pattern separately, or I have a special offer to buy all five in a bundle for a discounted price.

4. Gypsy Rose Granny Square

Buy the written pattern for the Gypsy Rose Granny Square on my Ravelry Store!

Please note that the name of the above square is titled “Gipsy Rose Granny Square” in Ravelry because they classify the word “gypsy” as derogatory. How they can classify a creative, free-spirited name in such a way is rather puzzling to me. In any event, I spelled it the same way as the popular band The Gipsy Kings.

5. Tea Rose Granny Square

8. Wild Rose Granny Square

9. Color Wheel Granny Square

10. Popcorn Flower Granny Square

BONUS: Happy Granny Square

The “Happy” Granny Square is my latest tutorial. I use cotton yarn in this pattern which offers some very pretty colors, but you could use any yarn you like!

Learn how to make a rectangle-shaped granny square in this tutorial. While this pattern is for a blanket, you could make small rectangle squares in various color combinations to use in a variety of projects. I do have a written blog for this tutorial.

I also want to share a few of my favorite crochet accessories below. I love this set of crochet hooks because it includes stitch markers and darning needles. I use these little scissors all the time and I always finish my crochet projects by steaming and blocking my work with this handheld steamer.
