Hello creative friends! I’m excited to share this super cute crochet tutorial for a small hexagon purse with a closure. The extra hexagon motif and the button closure make this a secure purse and gives the bag a nice, complete shape. I made this purse for my great niece and will be making a little fabric bunny family with a cute wardrobe of dresses, overalls, pants and a vest.
The small hexagon purse with a closure will keep the bunny family and all their clothes safe and sound. I am using the “Crocheted Flower Hexagon” pattern for this project, but you can use any hexagon motif you like. I wanted to use this particular motif because it is on the smaller side and worked well for the size of purse I wanted to make. It measures 8″ high by 8.75 inches wide when all done. I made the strap 13″ long, but it can be made any length you like.
All the instructions and supplies for the Small Hexagon Purse with a Closure are referenced in the video tutorial, but basically, you will need seven hexagon motifs for the purse and one extra for the flap and closure. You can crochet the motifs using any yarn and color combination you like. I used the Bernat Premium Yarn in Aran, Candy Pink, Golden Wheat and Burgundy. I used a 4mm (G-6) hook, which created a tight tension (what I wanted). You can use a larger hook or whatever is suitable for your yarn of choice.

The button I used was .75″, but you can use any larger size button you like… be creative and playful! I do not have a written pattern for this tutorial, it is a video lesson only, which is just below.
