As I shared my paintings with others, I was inspired to create a little story book with fun rhyming stories to go along with the paintings. It was meant to be a gift of a single book for my great nephew and niece, but the book morphed into a bigger project of a proper published book, which I am thrilled to share with you here now.

UPDATE: Due to printing issues with Amazon’s POD service, my book is now permanently unavailable.

Initially, I tried to make the book using a picture book format from my local photo lab. It was awkward and impossible to format. So I decided to used Amazon KDP Select to self publish this book because it was the easiest and most affordable way to make a nice enough book for the kids. As a result, the book is available for anyone who wants to buy it.

The above paintings are what I started playing around with. This was in November of 2024. They were playful and whimsical, but I soon found another style of quirky houses which quickly became a style I loved to create.

By early 2025, I was creating this style of whimsical and enchanting water color paintings. The book, Who Lives in This House? : The Village of Cobble Hill, is made from nine paintings and includes fun rhyming stories for each house to help the children imagine who might live there. The last of the nine paintings does not have a story, but invites the child to make up their own story.

I have also written instructions on how to make the last two pages of the book into a pocket where they can safely keep their own written stories (with the help of an adult). I will also have gift cards available to purchase at some point. I’m still trying to figure out the logistics of that without doing Etsy or having an on-line store website.

I have to apologize for several boo-boos while narrating the video tutorial, but I did place written corrections where I’ve made those mistakes. My brain function is still challenged these days, however, I am making a bit of progress, which I am grateful for! If you are new to crochet, make sure to check out my Beginner Crochet Series to learn all the basics of crochet.

These easy crocheted earrings are super quick and fun to make. You can add beads as shown above, or sew seed beads in a decorative design. I did make a pendant from my prototype piece as it was a bit bigger than the final earrings which is shown in one of the pictures below. When talking about the supplies required for this project, I did get the size of crochet threads mixed up. The correct sizing is in the supply list below.

Supply List

• Number 10 cotton thread in color(s) of your choice
• 1.75 mm crochet hook
• Darning needle
• Scissors
• Small pins and foam board (to starch finished earrings)
• 30 ml (6 tsp) water and 20 ml (4 tsp) sugar for starch (see video tutorial below)
• 2 shepherd hooks
• 2 headpins
• 2 small beads
• Round nose plyers
• Flat nose plyers
• Wire cutters

Demonstrating how to crochet a pattern using tiny crochet cotton on camera is very difficult for the viewer to see, so I used a number four medium weight yarn in the tutorial to demonstrate the stitch pattern. This worked so much better for the visual demonstration.

The Written Pattern

Begin with a magic ring or ch 4 and sl st to make a ring. If you do a magic ring, I recommend creating a knot before daring in the tail end to prevent the center from coming undone.

Round one: ch 1, 1 hdc into the ring 16 times. Join with a sl st into the first hdc.

Round two: ch 3 (counts as the first hdc, ch 1), [hdc, ch 2, hdc, ch 1] into the 1st st (first point made), hdc, ch 1 into the next st, 7 times, [hdc, ch 2, hdc, ch 1] into the next st (second point made), hdc ch 1 into the next st 6 times. Join with a sl st into the 2nd ch of beg ch3.

Round 3: 1 sc, ch 3 in 1st ch1 sp, [sc, ch 6, sc, ch 3] in ch2 sp (point), 1 sc, ch 3 in next ch1 sp 9 times, [sc, ch 6, sc, ch 3] in ch2 sp (point), 1 sc, ch 3 in next ch1 sp 8 times. Join with a sl st in the 1st sc. Fasten off.

This video tutorial shows how to make a sugar starch for crocheted items. The recipe calls for 50% each water and sugar, but I find that blend a little thick. I recommend using the portions written in the supply list which I also talk about in the video for the easy crocheted earrings, so make sure to check that out for starching recommendations specifically for the earrings. You can see in the image above how I sewed an accent bead into the center of the pendent motif. It would be very easy to add more beads to create more embellishment on both the pendent and earring motifs.

See the above tutorial on how to make a sugar starch, but use the proportions of sugar and water recommended in the supply list.

Once the motifs have been starched and are nice and dry, you can make the bead embellishments and add the shepherd hooks, which I demonstrate in the video for the easy crocheted earrings (however, I now recommend making the loops larger than demonstrated so the bead can dangle more freely). You can add a simple jump ring to the top of the pendent motif and put it on a necklace chain, or perhaps make a pretty Boho Necklace from one of my older tutorials.

I do not have a written pattern for this project, but the video tutorial demonstrates everything you need to know for these lovely crocheted fitted slippers. It is a rather long video, but I made sure not to include every step!

The yarns I used are thrift store finds, but I will link some similar products down below. The fiber is wool and is approximately a number 5 bulky yarn. Because these slippers are made to fit a specific length of foot, the stitch count will be different for each size. Therefore, you can use any weight yarn you like, but I would not go any smaller than a number 4 medium (or worsted) weight yarn.

Supply List

(Based on a women’s size 6.5 shoe…see chart below for size comparisons)

• Number 5 bulky yarn (click on county of choice to see availability near you)
  • Variegated color = 115-120 yards
  • Solid color = 38-40 yards
• 5.5 mm (I-9) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Darning needs
• Stitch markers

The pattern requires four sole pieces and I used a complimentary color for two of them. You could use the complimentary color for all four pieces or make the slippers all in one color. The choice is up to you!

The way the sole pieces crochet up, there is actually a left and right sole. I show in the tutorial how you can make a reverse sole, so when the two pieces are joined together they fit perfectly with wrong sides facing in and the right sides facing out. This is not essential, but is a nice little detail for a better fit.

The soles for the crocheted fitted slippers are slip-stitched together before the top of the slipper is created. Extra padding could be inserted between the two pieces to create even more comfort!

As to top of the slipper pattern is crocheted, we use reducing stitches to close up to toe. Stitch markers are very helpful to keep track of where to reduce the stitches. The video tutorial shows you every step you need to know to crochet these slippers.

Once you’ve completed the pattern, you can stop there and have a regular slipper, or you can continue adding rounds to create a cuff-style slipper.

These are by far the most comfortable slippers I’ve ever had! I have a lot of pain in my feet and these are so wonderful. I hope you enjoy the video tutorial for these crocheted fitted slippers (see below). I am still creating very little content at this time due to ongoing health issues. This Christmas stocking is made using granny squares, and while I take you through the process, step-by-step, I offer a unique twist on this project. I show you how to make a lining for it. While crocheted stocking are lovely and can be made using a variety of patterns, they are not very sturdy! Lining them makes the fabric nice and strong, so it can be practical and hold lots of great goodies!

Slippers have to be one of the best and easiest crocheted gift items ever! In this tutorial, I show you how to make two versions of the same pattern and technique. You can change it up by turning the fabric in different directions or add a cozy cuff around the ankle section. This is a super fun project!

This granny square pouch is so quick and easy to make and can be done using any granny square pattern you like! This would make a perfect gift to wrap a gift, especially if you used Christmas colors for the project.

The cup cozies and dishcloths are perfect stocking stuffers. Because they are very quick to crochet, they also make great projects to sell at craft fairs. People often ask permission to use my patterns to make items to sell and I always say yes! If course, this does not include selling the pattern itself, but anything you make with my patterns is yours to sell.

Crocheted snowflakes are simply so pretty! I have three different patterns above and these make great gift tags, additions to stockings, perfect as a whole set, or to make for your own Christmas décor.

Instead of coal in a stocking, how about some really fun crochet covered rocks! These are so easy to create and can be made in sets using single or multiple color schemes.

Crocheted bracelets are fun and very easy to make. Whether using fine wire or crochet cotton, these bracelets are made using a simple chain stitch. They are great projects for beginners, especially the ones made with crochet cotton. These bracelets are great to see at craft fairs.

I do indeed have Lots of Handmade Christmas Gift Ideas, and most of them are crochet projects, but I do have a few other creative gift ideas. The bath bombs are more like ‘bath dissolves’ because they are made without citric acid. That ingredient can irritate the skin of some people, so this is a nice gentle blend.

The lotion bars are super easy and fun to make and are a lovely gift to give, or to make for craft fairs. The dot-painted Christmas card is a lovely gift to make for those special people in your life.

The nice thing about this style of bracelet is that crocheting with wire makes it possible to make one size and then have about an inch of adjustment to make it smaller or larger. Just squish the wire together to make it smaller or pull it gently apart to get more length. I’m using small glass beads, but you can use any size or style of beads you like. There are countless possibilities for styles and colors with this Crocheted Wire and Beaded Bracelet. We use a basic chain stitch, which is super easy to do, but if you are new to crochet, check out my Beginner Crochet Series to learn the basics. You may even want to practice with yarn first to get the hang of doing a chain stitch.

Supply List

• Fine gauge wire: 24g, 26g, or 28g (about 4 inches per inch of crochet)
  • I’m using 24g which I found at Michael’s
  • Check out Hobby Lobby or your local craft store
• Assortment of beads, number 6 or larger (about 4 beads per inch of crochet)
• Clasp (see video below on a tutorial on how to make your own)
• 2 split or jump rings to match clasp
• Wire cutters
• Chain nose/needle nose plyers
• Round nose plyers (or bail making plyer)
• 3.5 mm crochet hook (use a larger one if using larger beads)

I used three colors of wire to crochet three different strands in green tone beads. I used some neutral color beads in gold, clear, copper and brown as well. Use a few larger beads for accent beads or maybe some metal or pearl type beads… be creative!

Once the three strands of wire and beads are crocheted, they are simply twisted together and then the clasps are attached. You can make two, three or four strands depending on the size of beads and how chunky you want the bracelet to be. I had so many tail ends from my last project for the Crocheted Spring Lap Blanket, so that inspired me to do this project. I also had a lot of tail ends from other projects like the Easy Granny Square Scarf and all my Free-form Crochet projects.

The project I’m using the fabric for is for the purse shown below. This is NOT a tutorial on how to sew the purse, but on how to make the quilted fabric which you can use for any project you like. The video tutorial for how to how to turn yarn tail ends into funky fabric is at the bottom of this post.

The supplies you will need for this project are fairly basic…scrap yarn, fabric, and sewing supplies. I used a sewing machine to quilt this fabric which is demonstrated in the video, so a sewing machine is required. You can do hand quilting if desired, but I don’t demonstrate that technique. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube on how to do that. The colors and quantity of supplies will depend on the project you intend to use the fabric for, so I won’t be listing those details.

Supply List

• Yarn tail ends…any weight yarn and any size
• Backing fabric like cotton or denim
• Tulle fabric
• Scissors
• Marking tool
• Measuring tool
• Straight pins
• Darning foot
• Regular thread
• If hand quilting, you will need a sewing needle and thread.

The key to making this fabric look funky and nicely marbled is to separate the plies of yarn. It takes a bit of time, but it is worth the effort! Check out the video on how to turn tail ends into funky fabric for the whole process… have fun!

I made these bracelets 50″ long and that worked out to seven wraps for my wrist, two for the necklace, three for the choker, and five wraps for the anklet. You can wear just one, or two… or even more (see image at the bottom of this post).

I will not be writing a pattern for this Easy Crocheted Bracelet because it is a super easy project made by crocheting a chain stitch with beads worked into the chain at intervals. And, while it is very easy, there are several things to consider such as sizing, thread choice, beads, hook size, spacing of beads, and so forth. For that reason, the video tutorial is the best way to share this project. If you are new to crocheting, then check out my Beginner Crochet Series here.

Here is the video tutorial for the Easy Crocheted Bracelet, and you can find a supply list below the video. I go into more detail about the supplies in the video tutorial but I also have a chart below that shows the conversion from regular crochet hooks to steel hooks…it’s a bit of an odd system.

This chart is a conversion chart for steel crochet hooks. Metric hooks are measured by increasing size, so the larger the size in mm, the larger the hook. The US conversions for regular hooks also increase in letter and size (ie 4mm = G-6, 5mm = H-8).

But steel hooks get smaller as the number increases. This is because steel hooks are tiny and have more sizes to choose from. The increment between sizes is small, so a different numbering system was devised. They are made especially for crochet cotton thread.

These bracelets crochet up so quickly and are perfect to make as gifts for your friends! They would also be a great item to make for craft shows. You can make these bracelets as long as you like and can wear as many as you like. Look how much fun that is!!! I am wearing all six samples that I made for this tutorial…so cool!

The ribbing is made using a tighter tension than the body of the shawl, which requires loose tension to start. I do have some suggestions on how to address this in the tutorial.

So here is the cloth doll that I made using both the book and course called Creative Cloth Doll Making by Patti Culea.

She was so much fun to make, and I honestly could not have made a doll like this without the information in both the book and the course.

This is not a paid review, nor am I receiving any affiliate remuneration from Patti Culea or Galli Creative for this post, I just wanted to share my opinion and experience. I do share a few Amazon links to her books at the bottom of this post.

I originally found the book at a used book sale when we lived on Bowen Island (we had the best book sales there!) I then ordered the DVD course from Patti Culea as well as a doll pattern (which I don’t show here). The book comes with a selection of three different patterns that you can use just as they are, or combine the pieces to create your own unique doll.

The DVD is now available as a streaming course through Galli Creative. This is a much better way to enjoy the course and I should also mention that the course comes with downloadable content including a supply list and a pattern for the doll called Ilmaria, which I believe is pattern number two in the book.

I decided to make the simplest doll pattern of the three, as I had never done a project like this before. Although… as you can see in this image, I did have an affinity for cloth doll making from a very young age. I made these two dolls when I was just five or six years old!

My mom made the dress and sewed the face of the white doll, but I did everything else myself. I even sewed these on a sewing machine! My mom put the pedal on the lid of the sewing machine so I could reach it!

The book has several photos of cloth dolls made from all three patterns by a variety of artists. Many of them are sculpted, and they are absolutely amazing! There are so many inspiring ideas, but there are no instructions for those different dolls. The instructions in the book include all the basics of sewing the three different doll patterns.

This includes a comprehensive supply list, instructions on how to layout the patterns, to turn the fingers right side out (quite tricky actually), how to stuff the body (including adding wire), and how to assemble the various body parts, some of which are jointed.

There is the option to use fabric paint or dye to create a colorful finish on the body, and this is what I was planning to do (like the image on the front of the book). But in the end, I chickened out and painted the body a skin tone color. I used liquid acrylic paints with a fabric medium to create a thin wash, and I was happy with how this turned out.

The book also includes instructions on how to draw and color the face as well as basic instructions on embellishing and dressing the dolls. If you are proficient with sewing and doing fine work, then the book may be enough for you.

For me, the book didn’t have enough detailed instructions, although it has an abundance of creative inspiration, and that is why I ordered the course on DVD. I’m so glad I did because it made all the difference! There are nearly five hours of video instruction, so there is a lot more information in the course. I actually found having both the book and the course a perfect combination and I still flip through the book getting inspiration from the amazing textile artists who shared their work in the book.

The book doesn’t talk much about how to do hair, but the course does. I decided to make a wig with colorful wool yarn wrapped on wooded skewers. I learned this technique from a YouTube tutorial. And I loved how it turned out!

The book and the course are really about the construction of the doll’s body and face, and neither go into a lot of detail for clothing and embellishments. This is a huge area of possibilities and Patti has another course with Galli Creative called Cloth Doll Inspirations where she goes into more detail about embellishments and how to create costumes.

I haven’t taken this course yet, but I plan to! I discovered that I’m not actually that good at sewing doll clothes, but I did the best I could. I’d like to make a different outfit for my doll, perhaps something with a bit more whimsy.

In the end, she morphed into a dancer of some sort and I had no intention of that! I think the ribbon that I wrapped around her legs as leg warmers was where it all began.

I made a tutu-style skirt and a little bit of jewelry for her. I still have to make the shoes or slippers, but as I might change her entire costume, I haven’t been in a hurry to do that. Also, quite honestly…I ran out of steam! I learned that I actually don’t have a lot of patience for detailed and fine work.

But…there are many amazing people who do! And in addition to the inspiration that is in both the book and the course, there is a Cloth Doll Crafter FB group that has the most talented and gifted cloth doll creators. There is a tonne of experience in this private group (you just have to request to join), and they are so helpful and supportive, especially if you are new to this craft.

But my final review is this…the book and the course are awesome and I highly recommend them. Patti Culea is a wonderful teacher and she has so much experience with cloth doll making. I think it would be a dream to take a live workshop with her!

This project is quite simple and the nice thing about making your own pillow form, is that you can make the pillow the right size for your crocheted motifs. If you have to fit the motifs around a ready made pillow form, it might be a bit tricky to get the motifs the right size. Also, you can choose the perfect color fabric to suit your crocheted motifs.

I have the written directions for this tutorial and I also have a video tutorial at the bottom of this post. Unfortunately, while creating this project, I forgot to take photos of some of the steps. I’ve had to take ‘snapshots’ from the video files, and as a result, some of the photos here are very poor quality. Oopsy!

The supplies you will need for this project are two round crocheted motifs of your choice (I recommend they be at least 12″ (30 cm) in diameter). The pattern I am using is 13″ (32.5 cm) in diameter. You can use two motifs that are exactly the same or create different color schemes as I did with mine. In addition to the motifs, you will need:

• fabric
• fabric scissors
• pinking shears (optional)
• ruler or tape measure
• pen or pencil
• wooden point turner seam presser (or chopstick)
• straight pins
• needle and thread
• sewing machine (optional)
• yarn to join motifs
• crochet hook (optional)
• darning needle
• filling for the pillow form

Start by placing two layers of fabric right sides together. Pin one of the crocheted motifs to the fabric and draw dots around the motif 3/4″ from the edge. This will create the pillow form pattern that is 1/4″ bigger than the motif, plus a 1/2″ seam allowance. Remove the motif, re-pin the fabric, and cut out the pillow shape.

Sew the fabric pieces together using a 1/2″ seam allowance and leave an opening big enough to fit your hand inside. You can use a sewing machine for this, or you can hand-stitch using the technique I demonstrated in this tutorial here. (it begins at 4:08)

Once you’ve sewn the fabric together, trim the seam allowance to 1/4″ all the way around, except for the opening. Snip a small ‘V’ of fabric about every inch or so all the way around the edge (being very careful not to snip the stitches). If you have pinking shears, then you can skip the above step and just trim the seam allowance using the shears.

Turn the pillow shape inside out and use the wooden point turner seam presser to press the seam from the inside.

Then stuff the pillow, making it as plump as you can.

Close the opening using the invisible or ladder stitch. You can do this by placing the needle and thread under the fold of one side of the fabric for about 1/4″. Then bring the needle to the adjacent side and place another stitch under the fold of the fabric, repeat this until the seam is closed. Fasten off at the end. I do show this in detail in the video tutorial.

Now that your pillow form is done, the next step is to join the two crocheted motifs together! I will show you how to use the whip stitch to create the join, but if you prefer to crochet them together, you can check out how to do that in this video tutorial. (the instructions start at 10:35)

Place the motifs wrong sides together and join a piece of yarn to the inside of the back motif.

Bring the needle up through the top loop of any stitch of the back motif, coming in from the wrong side and out on the right side. Then, bring the needle from the back motif, overtop the front motif, and pick up the top loop of the adjacent stitch, going in from the front to the back. At the same time, pick up the next stitch (top loop only) of the back motif, going from the back to the front.

Continue to sew the motifs together in this way, joining on a new strand of yarn as needed, until you’ve gone about 3/4 of the way around. Place your custom pillow form inside the motifs and continue to sew the motifs together.

If everything has worked out correctly, you will finish as shown above. Once that stitch is complete, bring the needle down into the front motif and darn the tail end to the inside of the pillow. This will create one final stitch that will make the seam look perfectly balanced. Again, I show this in more detail in the video tutorial.

I just want to mention that I have made quite a few narration mistakes in this tutorial, and that is because I have been struggling with some cognitive issues. This is an ongoing issue, which is why I always do voice-overs in order to correct most of my mistakes. In this tutorial, however, I had so many mistakes and I was very tired.

The perfectionist in me wanted to redo everything, but I chose instead to be kind to myself and publish the tutorial with these imperfections. I hope you understand The link for the abstract style dotting tutorial is at the bottom of this post, but I have a few other links that may be helpful.

In the abstract dotting tutorial, I will not be discussing the basics of dotting such as choice of tools and paint, paint consistency, dotting techniques, and so forth. If this project seems a bit daunting, then I do have another tutorial that is quite perfect as a first project. I created a separate tutorial awhile back where I showed how to make the actual Tyvek beads. These beads are very pretty just as they are, and you could certainly skip the embellishing step and just make a pendant or finish the beads with the single loops on each end and use them that way. You can check out the Tyvek Bead Tutorial here.

For this tutorial, I am using copper wire, but you could use any color wire you like. There are so many possibilities including funky colored wires. I am also using the finest seed beads available, plus one size up. I don’t have a link for these because I’ve had my stash for several years, and I don’t actually know the true size. I got most of my beads from craft shops and dollar stores.

The supplies you will need for this project are:

• Tyvek Beads
• Assorted seed beads (the smallest size available)
• Larger glass beads for end caps and for a feature bead
• Fine gauge wire: 24 gauge to 28 gauge
• Heavy-gauge wire: 18 gauge to 20 gauge
• Wire cutters
• Round nose plyers
• Chain nose plyers
• Scissors (optional)

These Tyvek beads, whether embellished or not would be perfect to use to make a bohemian ribbon necklace. They could be strung right onto the ribbon yarn, or they could be made with the loop ends or as pendants and strung on that way. Because you can make these beads yourself, you can decide if you want them to be long or short, plump or thin, all one color, or a mix of different colors. You can paint the background color all the same and then paint different layers of colors on top of that, creating a cohesive color scheme but with variety at the same time. They are truly so much fun to make!

The supplies you will need for this project are:

• Tyvek paper (see if you can find some for free on a construction site)
• Assorted liquid acrylic paints. I recommend metallic paint and the colors I used were from the Art Deco brand
  • Peacock Pearl
  • Festive Red
  • Purple Pearl
  • Bright Copper (this tone is slightly darker)
• Craft glue
• Heat gun or hair dryer (at least 1500 watts for the hairdryer)
• Scissors
• Wooden skewers or narrow round object to wrap paper around
• Clothespins

This tutorial will take you through creating an abstract background painting, ideas on how to draw ‘plump’ lettering, and how to fill the lettering in with layers of dots. If you are new to dot painting, then you can check out my Dot Painting Tutorial for Beginners.

In that tutorial, I talk all about dotting tools and techniques, so it is a great place to start. I am using the DIY Mandala dot painting tools in this tutorial, but in the beginner tutorial, I talk about how you can using ‘found items’ from around the house to dot paint with.

The supplies you will need for this tutorial are:

• Paint surface of your choice. I recommend canvas board, mixed media art paper, or watercolor/mixed media cards.
• Assorted liquid acrylic paints. I recommend the Americana line, but you can use any brand you like. The colors I used in this design are:
  • White, Saffron Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Moon Yellow (Folk Art), Lavender, Bahama Blue, Desert Turquoise, Ocean Blue, Primary Blue (mixed with white)
• Dot painting tools
  • DIY Mandala Brand (ships from Canada)
  • Marks Mandalas (I don’t have this brand, but it looks very similar)
• Letter Stencils (optional)

This is a super easy tutorial and I have created a step by step video for you to follow along. While I used the quote ‘Be Kind’, you could write ‘Be Calm’, ‘Be Zen’, ‘Be Happy’, ‘Just Be’, or any other quote you like. I was actually inspired to use this quote because I’ve just launched my new shop ‘Fentie Designs’, where I create funky and fun T-shirts with some of these quotes.

I had actually published the shop as ‘Trisha’s Designs Co’, but I just found another company with a very similar name, selling T-shirts and other products. We launched our stores at almost the exact same time…so to avoid confusion, I changed the name to ‘Fentie Designs’.

With your dot painting project, you could make it any size you like or change up the color combination. Just make sure your background colors are light enough and have enough contrast with the colors you use for the dots.

While the instructions for this tutorial are for a bracelet, you can use the crochet and beaded technique to make a choker or an anklet! You can make the bracelet with any combination of cotton thread and colored beads you like.

I have created a video tutorial for the crocheted and beaded bracelet as well and you will find that at the bottom of this post!

The supplies you will need for this project are:

• Cotton thread in your choice of color or size:
  • Aunt Lydia’s Gold Metalic 10 thread
  • Aunt Lydia’s Bridal White Cotton 3 thread
• Number 6 glass beads in colors of your choice:
  • Metalic and assorted
  • Silver lined assorted
• Larger glass bead for the clasp
• 2mm or 2.5mm crochet hook
• Darning needle
• Scissors
• Craft or fabric glue

Start by applying glue to the top one or two inches of the crochet cotton and let it dry completely. This will create a nice firm tip to thread the beads on to. When the tip has dried, thread on the beads. You will use approximately three beads for every 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the bracelet.

Measure how long your bracelet will be by wrapping the cotton yarn around your wrist for as many wraps you want. The length of my bracelet with 2 wraps was 12 inches (30 cm). I needed 36 beads, so I threaded on about 50…just to make sure. It’s better to have too many beads than not enough!

Once you have threaded on all your beads, thread on the clasp bead, then one small bead. Then bring the thread back down through the clasp bead, leaving about a 6 inch (15 cm) tail. Tie a square knot on the bottom side of the bead

Place both threads over the crochet hook and wrap them back around themselves to create a loop and create a chain stitch. If you are new to crochet then you can check out my Beginner Crochet Series to learn all the stitches you need for this project.

Make 3 more chains with 2 strands of thread for a total of 4 chains. Drop the tail thread and continue to make a row of chain stitches to equal the length required for your bracelet (the length includes the first 4 chains).

You don’t have to count the chain stitches, just check the length of your chain to fit around your wrist comfortably. For reference, I did another 65 chains to make my length 12 inches in total.

To create a loop for the clasp bead, make an additional 5 to 8 chains. This will vary depending on the size of your bead. I needed 7 chains to fit around my bead. Slip stitch back into the first chain you made for your loop (for me that was the 7th chain from my hook). Chain one and snug that up nice and tight to secure the loop. Try the bead to make sure it fits.

Make one single crochet in the top loop of the next stitch. Bring a bead up the thread and snug it up to that single crochet. Make one single crochet around the bead, working into the top loop of the next stitch. Let the bead drop to the back of your work.

Make one single crochet in the top loop of the next stitch, then bring another bead up the thread and snug it up to that single crochet. Make one single crochet around the bead as before. Continue to alternate one single crochet, with one beaded single crochet until you get to the other side of the bracelet.

Slip stitch into the first chain with the double strands and chain one to fasten off. Darn in the tail ends and dab a small amount of glue on the cut ends for extra security.

Your bracelet is done! Wasn’t that so easy!
